My dog wouldnt raise his paws. Here’s what i did:
1: i took a small treat, put it in my palm and cover it with my thumb and put his paw a few times on my palm and took the thumb away when i put the paw.
2: after he got used to it, i’d kinda push his paw and he would put it into my palm knowing he will get his treat.
3: do it till u feel ur dog is ready! Hope i helped and please ask me if u dont uderstamd
btw a tip is using a new dog food/ kibble my dog is little and doesn’t eat kibble much so she thinks of it as a treat! Also this works great Tysm for commenting this

Doing this isn’t a great way, they aren’t using their brain, however it does help if all else fails!
One big drawback to teaching this, every time the dog wants a treat he’ll just come over and give you paw w/o you asking…
Teach your dog to do it on command and just ignore him when he does it when he does it without your command. That worked with my dog.
@@pawsandclaws12 yeah, that’s kind of what happened on its own. But I have to admit that I’ve stopped asking her to shake at all, afraid she’ll start doing it to beg again. So when I want her to show affection, I just ask for a kiss and she lightly touches her nose to my cheek. But you’re right, I should revisit the shake so she knows to only do it with a command. Thanks

2. Put the treats in your hand and cover the treats
3.after he got use to it have a command

My dog learnt when we first got him without treats and he considers it as a sign of affection now and if he likes you he’ll do “paw” without anyone telling him to
My learned to do paw all on it’s on sit on her own to wow she’s the calmest pit bull I have besides the other four dogs
My dog started doing paw before I trained him to..
I figured my dog was way too polite to claw at my hand, so when I shook my hand and made her excited about it she tried to play with my hand and that’s how we now have learned paw! thanks for teaching me the basics so I could build on it <3

THANK YOU FOR THE REMINDER!!! I lost my fur baby last month…& still can’t believe she’s no longer w/us. & for the life of me I couldn’t remember how I taught her “paw!” I recently recently took in my brother’s puppy who happens to be eight weeks old. It was either me or the shelter…. No way in hell I couldn’t let this puppy go to the shelter. So I took the lil burger in. I def. wasn’t ready for another new lil furry cutie. But I guess the man above had other plans. Let me just say it’s been one crazy two weeks!!! By day three I had lost my 💩!!! I was over the nipping & the bitting!! I was just overwhelmed & definitely not ready!!! I happen to call my dad that day and we talked for a little bit. He made me feel better & I calmed the fok down.😬🤭 just had to remember that this lil guy is “just a baby.” Lol I am an extremely patient person, but was just triggered & overwhelmed. He’s a smart lil one. He is half German Shepherd & pitbull mix. He’s had no potty accidents, which is amazing given that he’s a puppy. I can tell when he hast to go potty outside, which is awesome. He knows how to fetch. He knows how to sit and he knows how to stand up now we’re working on the paw! So thanks for the reminder!!! I can’t wait to try it out as soon as he wakes up from his nap!
What I did is, I would grab my dogs paw and shake it like you would’ve handshake then I would give him a treat after a period of time. He just knew he needed to raise his paw and shake with me so he could get a treat.

We taught our dogs this, so now everytime we have something that they want, they come and give us they’re paw without us asking 😂

Another way is if you tie a string to a paw, lightly tug it and reward when the paw touches your hand, this works better if you’ve taught your dog to wait
See the only problem with this is if u have a greedy dog like me he would stop doing it because he’s not getting treats anymore for it😂
