How I taught "roll over"

⭐️ SAVE THIS POST for future reference

Step 1: use a treat to lure your dog's nose toward their shoulder – mark and reward for the slightest movement

Step 2: repeat, but progressively increase the movement required for a reward

Step 3: once your dog is rolling over consistently, remove the treat and lure with just your hand

Step 4: fade the lure into a hand signal – we use one finger in a rotating motion

Step 5: add in the verbal cue

    1. Our dogs just desperately want to know what we require of them in training, so they can make us happy by doing it for/with us.♡♡♡.

    2. @EllieGoldenLife I want u to know that u have my utmost sympathies on Ellie needing vet care. It is the worst feeling in the world.

  2. You’re the best! You have such efficient, gentle and successful training methods; all done with love and patience. No wonder they are so sweet and love helping you spread the smiles 🥰

  3. Love how Ellie’s legs are crossed like a lady looking at her kid sister’s training. Ellie’s adorable

  5. Ellie and Emma are the best. I love how you not only train them, but also the time you spend playing with them. Their “freedom” time is so fun to watch as well.
